Android : Integrate admob using Google Play Services

Platform  – Mac Osx 10.9.4

Tools Used –

Eclipse ADT

– Google Services

Android Nexus Emulator

From August 1, 2014, the Play Store will stop accepting new or updated apps that use the standalone Google AdMob SDK

So here are the steps to integrate Admob in your project using Google Play Services.

Install Google Services

Open terminal, go to adt directory ->


Run the command – 

android sdk

Now under Extras menu select Google Play Services and install the packages.

Import Google Play Services library

– File -> Import -> Existing Android Code Into Workspace -> Browse
– Navigate to directory  – adt-bundle-mac-x86_64/sdk/extras/google then select google_play_services.
– Check ‘Copy Projects into workspace’ then click Finish.


Import Google Play Services library into project

– Select properties by Right click on your project then select ‘Android’.
– Click Add select google play services hit Ok.
– Click ‘Apply’ then Ok.

Update your project source code

Follow the instructions given in official site about updating the code :

Thats it. Clean up the build and Run the Emulator.
